Sep 1, 2017 | Uncategorized

Rachel joins Embark as the new Sustainability Peer Program Coordinator. In this role, Rachel will support students in the Sustainability Peer Program, a weekly class jointly offered by Embark and SFU’s Sustainability Office. Through the Sustainability Peer Program students empower themselves and their fellow students to make SFU a more sustainable community.

Below, Rachel shares more about her interests and background in her own words:

I am excited to be working at Embark as the Sustainability Peer Program Coordinator (SPPC) for the 2017 – 2018 year. I am in my 4th year in Environmental Science, concentrating in Environmental Earth Systems, and I am an aspiring climate scientist.

Over the past 3 years at SFU, I have been involved in SFU350 – SFU’s climate justice club, and the SFU Residence Eco-Committee focused on progressing sustainability in residence. I have enjoyed working on environmental sustainability in the two aforementioned capacities, and I am looking forward to working with the Sustainability Peers for the next year.

Apart from sustainability, some of my passions include intercultural competence, empowering young women from broken homes and music composition. I also enjoy playing tennis, swimming, Afrobeat dance, sight-seeing and travelling.
