Welcoming Lisa, Embark’s New Design & Communications Specialist

Sep 13, 2018 | Team

Ett ödmjukt hallå! (a humble hello!) I’m Lisa Salomonsson [sa.lo.mon. sən], and I am truly joyful and honoured to join Embark in the role of Design and Communications Specialist. I’m a strong believer in ‘sustainable beings’, referring to someone who can be supported, tolerated, and accepted over time, but also sustained for a period of time. Bringing awareness and finding balance between “me”, “we”, “people” and “the world”.

Embark Sustainability Design and Communications Specialist

I grew up in one of the world’s most environmentally friendly countries, Sweden (placed 3rd on the EPI 2017), where the schools have special eco and sustainability programs; recycling is the ONLY thing taught; public transit is always the first option; and one of the most popular kids’ TV shows during the 90’s portrayed two guys spending 45 minutes plogging and recycling around Sweden. Strangely, the va-va-voom factor of this sustainability cradle didn’t hit me until I moved to the US and for the first time saw and met the other – “the world”.

Vancouver has supported me with the “people”, a reflective grid of sustainability and personal projects, where the model is of a Scandinavian predecessor. And now also the “we” – Embark.

Besides that, I have a Bachelor in Digital Culture and Communication and am pursuing a second in Art History. I’m pretty funny as well as passionate about art and illustration in general. I also write a lot of poetry and should probably mention that you can find me reading books, practicing yoga, and eating papaya.
