Emily Woehrle
Social Media Coordinator
Hi, I’m Emily and I love vegetables and the internet. Growing up, I would spend countless hours in my Mom’s garden weeding, watering, and checking out the different bugs and birds that would visit. Living a sustainable lifestyle was instilled in me at a young age and I do my best to live out practices that better both our natural and social environment.
This last summer I interned at an organic farm whose main purpose was to grow food for the food bank. I experienced first hand the amount of work that goes into organic field preparation and crop development and saw how food production cultivates community. The relationships and knowledge I gained through this experience inspired me to find an opportunity on campus where I could encourage others to be mindful of their natural surroundings.
I am currently pursuing a Communication degree at SFU and am excited to integrate the skills I learned last summer, along with my studies, into Embarks’ Social Media Coordinator position.

Janmie Gunawardena
Photographer
Moving to Canada and experiencing the privilege of living in a city that captures all the beauty that nature and humanity have to offer has me working towards keeping it that way. Creating a sustainable future continues to be an important pillar in my journey to attaining a Political Science major at Simon Fraser University.
I am both honoured and excited to be working as a Photographer for Embark Sustainability. With my experience in photography, videography, and graphic design I am eager to begin capturing all that Embark Sustainability does. Through the Theory of Change and the programs Embark has to offer, I look forward to following through with our aim of cultivating sustainable communities.
