Social Sustainability

We work to advance regenerative social processes by promoting equity, building capacity, and welcoming diverse perspectives in order to strengthen student communities.

Ongoing Programs

Sustainability Peer Program: We provide opportunities for students to advance their personal and professional development while co-creating sustainability projects on campus.

Community Kitchen: Creating dialogue around food systems and social sustainability, students come together to cook a four-course vegetarian or vegan meal, using produce harvested from the Learning Garden.

Social Innovation Seed Fund: We fund SFU student projects that work towards social, economic or environmental transformation for SFU and its communities.

Career Nights: Each semester we invite professionals from a particular sector working towards sustainability to present at a one-night event. Students have the opportunity to hear about their experiences and connect.

Past Initiatives

Student Sustainability Summit
We brought students together from all campuses and backgrounds to generate a Student Sustainability Vision for the university, to contribute to SFU's Sustainability Strategic Plan.
