Come together virtually to cook-a-long and enjoy a vegetarian or plant-based meal, while connecting with other SFU students.
Community Kitchens are a low-barrier gathering space where SFU students come together to cook-a-long and share stories through food.
FEBRUARY’S FACILITATORS
Join us for our Virtual Community Kitchen over Zoom, February 11th. We’re welcoming this month’s facilitator, Lofty!
Lofty : I’m an international student from Guinea studying political science at Simon Fraser University. After living here for a few years now, one of the many things I appreciate about Vancouver is its culinary diversity. Like many people, I love eating; there is nothing better than knowing you can find a little bit of everything from everywhere here. In Africa, We pride ourselves in the tastefulness of our organic fruits and vegetables. If there is one fruit that we have in abundance in Guinée, it is mango, especially found during the monsoon seasons. Since Guinean cuisine is all about stews, a dish incorporating mango was bound to happen. The dish I’m going to share with you guys is Mango Stew.
While we have moved this program online, we still want to make this space as low-barrier as possible. In partnership with the SFSS’s Women’s Centre, we will be offering support for groceries for Community Kitchen!
Please email Melisa Tang Choy, Embark’s Programs Manager, at programs@embarksustainability.org, by Tuesday February 9th at 12pm. We will be asking for your contact information and to fill out a Participant Data Storage Agreement.
When are we sending the recipes out?
We will be sending out the recipes one week in advance so you have time to get the ingredients. We will also be attaching the recipe with each reminder.
