Join us and Stella Hunka from Embark’s Food Justice Collective for a relaxing evening of cooking and conversation! Together, we’ll dive into the importance of eating in season and how supporting local food sources promotes sustainable food systems. Our focus will be on understanding the full cycle of the food we consume, with an emphasis on reducing food waste.

This event takes place on the unceded homelands of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish), səlil̓ilw̓ətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and kʷikʷəƛw̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Nations.
Stella Hunka (she/her)
Stella is a second-year student in the Resource and Environmental Management Program, fueled by her lifelong passion for food and cooking. Growing up in a family where meals bring people together, she loves experimenting with new recipes while actively minimizing food waste. To share her creative dishes that cater to various dietary preferences, Stella showcases her recipes on social media, celebrating inclusivity and flavor. Inspired by her diverse surroundings, she is dedicated to developing sustainable food systems that provide everyone with access to nourishing and culturally relevant ingredients. When she’s not in the kitchen, you can find her coaching and playing tennis, enjoying the outdoors, or learning new languages. Stella can’t wait to meet everyone at the Community Kitchen for a fun and enriching experience!
Embark Sustainability events are free and open to Embark Sustainability members which includes Simon Fraser University undergraduate and graduate students, as well as Embark Sustainability Associate Members.
