Embark is an independent, student-led not-for-profit based out of Simon Fraser University that empowers the next generation of student sustainability leaders.

Our Mission

To engage SFU student members in change making and inspire their sustainability leadership through our grant, advocacy, and student-designed programming.

Our Vision

A future where all students actively cultivate sustainable communities both on and off campus.

Our Members

Embark members include all students enrolled in an SFU undergraduate or graduate degree program. SFU community members and Embark supporters can become Associate Members. We currently represent 35,000+ SFU students and are committed to responsibly, transparently, and accountably serving them as our members. For a small semesterly levy ($3.50 for full-time students, $1.75 for part-time students), our combined resources add up to meaningful collective action, advancing sustainability and empowering students at SFU and beyond. Members can submit a request to opt-out here.

Theory of Change

The theory of change is Embark's strategic plan for 2017-2020. Our approach to sustainability advocacy can be broken down into three priority areas: Climate Action, Food Systems Change, and Social Sustainability.
