Ask Me Anything with Iulia Zgreabăn

February 12, 2021

Do you have questions about how to tackle climate change as a student? Don’t know where to start? Our Climate Action team has got your back! Hear about fellow students who are working on climate action and climate justice on campus, and join them for an “Ask Me Anything” Instagram Q/A Takeover.

Embark’s Climate Action team is inviting fellow students to take over Embark’s Instagram for one day and explore different ways in which individuals are tackling climate change with an intersectional and interdisciplinary lens.

February 12th, 2021 with Iulia Zgreabăn
Topic: Student climate activism at SFU and pivoting during the pandemic

Iulia Zgreabăn is a fourth-year Political Science Honours student at Simon Fraser University, concentrating in Diversity & Migration. She has been involved with Embark Food Rescue since January 2018, and is one of the co-founders of ‘Justice, No Pipeline’, a working group in SFU350 that organizes against TMX. One event that she helped to plan through this group brought together Musqueam Activist sχɬemtəna:t (Audrey Siegl), Burnaby Fire Chief Chris Bowcock, and SFU Chief Safety Officer Mark Lalonde to outline the risks that TMX poses to the community and its implications for Indigenous sovereignty. Iulia is also one of the team members who helped to bring about the #StudentsAgainstTMX campaign, and is excited to continue to organize in the campaign against TMX throughout her final year at SFU, as well as after graduating.
